Tree pruning and cutting that is careful, safe and clean

Healthy trees need occasional, skilled pruning. Unsafe or unwanted trees need controlled removal. Our trained climbers handle both with planning, the right equipment and respect for the tree and your property.

Pruning and tree work we carry out

We follow recognised arboriculture practice: no topping, no lion-tailing, and cuts made where the tree can seal them.

Crown thinning

Selective removal of inner branches to let light and air through without changing the tree's natural shape.

Crown lifting

Raising the lowest branches to clear paths, driveways, windows and lawns underneath.

Crown reduction

Reducing height or spread with careful cuts back to healthy growth points.

Deadwood removal

Taking out dead, dying and damaged branches before they fall.

Storm damage

Making split or hanging limbs safe and tidying the wound for healthy recovery.

Felling and stump grinding

Controlled, sectional removal of trees that must go, with stump grinding and clear-up.

Safety comes before the first cut

Every tree job starts on the ground. We assess the tree’s condition, what’s underneath it, how branches will be lowered and where people need to stay clear. That plan is shared with you before the crew climbs.

Climbers work with ropes and harnesses, heavy limbs are rigged and lowered rather than dropped, and the work area is fenced off. If a tree is near power lines, we arrange for the line to be made safe first.

Small trees and shrubs deserve precision too

Ornamental trees, fruit trees, topiary and bonsai-style specimens need a lighter, more exact touch. We prune for shape, flowering and fruiting at the right time of year for each plant.

Fruit trees are pruned to open the centre and encourage strong fruiting wood; flowering trees are pruned after they bloom so you don’t lose next season’s flowers.

Still unsure? A gardener will happily answer by phone or email.

Will pruning harm my tree?

Correct pruning helps a tree. Damage comes from over-pruning, topping or poor cuts, which we don’t do. We remove only what’s needed and make cuts that the tree can heal naturally.

Some trees may be protected by local rules, conservation status or building agreements. If permission could be needed, we’ll flag it before quoting and can advise on the process.

Branches are chipped on site and removed, and logs can be left for you, stacked neatly, or taken away. Chippings can be left for mulch if you’d like them.

Yes. We grind stumps below ground level so the area can be turfed or replanted, and remove the grindings.
